HAVING AN UNPLUGGED WEDDING
I’ve really had a hard time with this one! I watch a lot of weddings and see a lot of things. Recently, I’ve been really annoyed by guests and their cell phones. This past weekend, a guests cell phone actually rang during the ceremony! NO JOKE!
I understand that it is great to capture pictures of the couple or a video of them kissing, but video taping the whole wedding from your cell phone or snapping way too many photos should not be allowed. A guest should sit back and enjoy the wedding, listen to the minister, and vows the couple wrote.
At another wedding, there were 40 guests who had their cell phones out and 10 guests who didn’t. That was a lot of guests with cell phones. One of the reasons why the couple hires a photographer is for us to take photos. With our elopement and small wedding packages, we even send the couple an email link to photos so they can share them with friends and family. Iphones are great for taking pictures, but chances are, the professional photos we take with our cameras are probably a lot better than cell phone pictures.
Guests can be a distraction to our photographers if they are standing out in the aisle taking photos. I’ve had to ask guests numerous times to please move so I could get a picture. As a couple, you probably do not want one of your guests, in your photos, standing in the aisle as you two walk down it.
Our minister can nicely explain you are having an unplugged wedding and ask that the guests not use their cell phones and keep them in their pockets.
So all you happy couples out there, you may want to rethink cell phones at your wedding.
