This week I was thinking about favorites with my wedding. I think I started thinking about this because I looked through our wedding photos last weekend.  Photos are a great way to remember the memories, but most of all I like looking at the expressions on my face and my husband’s.

I love my wedding ring!  I could not be happier with my ring!  Now I know it is just a piece of jewelery, but it represents the vows that we took as a couple, in front of family and in front of God. Every time I look at my finger, I think of the vows we took or I think of the love we share or I think of the memories we’ve had, or challenges we’ve overcome.  Then my mind wonders about our proposal and how my husband was so excited to propose to me and how I took that ring right from the box and put in on my finger (probably without saying yes yet!).  Not only does my engagement ring have sentimental value, but my wedding ring (the ring that was put on my finger the day we said I do) belonged to my grandma Mimi.  My grandparents had the love that I want for my future.  My grandpa was so kind to my grandma. I remember when she was sick he would get up in the morning and bring her coffee in bed. I love their love story about how they snuck away to get married and about how they met in a grocery store.  So my wedding ring has been blessed with their happy story of love. I can’t wait to sprinkle on more love to my ring for my little girl to have it on her special day!

When thinking of your engagement ring or wedding ring, think about what you want for your future. Don’t think about the biggest and blingish ring.  Ladies, please don’t have your boyfriend go into debt buying you a ring.  This may not be the best way to go into a future together.  And men, please ask the girl you are going to propose to what rings she likes, or ask her best friend, mom, or sister for advice on what to buy.  This ring is something that we will both be wearing for the rest of our lives!
